- If you emerge elsewhere, compare distances to nearby portals and adjust or remove the conflicting pair.
Build both sides intentionally. Letting the game auto-create the exit often places a new portal somewhere close — but not at your planned hub.

Minecraft looks for existing portals within a search radius when you enter one. As a practical rule of thumb, keep linked pairs within about 128 Overworld blocks (16 Nether blocks) of the scaled target so they prefer each other over neighbours.
